Jhunjhnuwala Family – Māori and Pacific Youth Scholarship 2025

The Jhunjhnuwala family, in partnership with Hind Management, is proud to launch the Māori and Pacific Youth Scholarship for 2025. This initiative aims to support Māori rangatahi and Pacific youth who are not currently in paid employment, education, or training by providing hands-on experience in hotel operations. It’s an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in hotel operations while growing skills, confidence and leadership.

​Who Can Apply?

We welcome applications from New Zealand residents of Māori and Pacific descent who are aged 16–24 years, pursuing a career in hospitality and seeking further studies in hotel, hospitality management, events, or tourism studies or recent graduates of these studies (within 6 months of graduation).


Both internships offer:

  • $25 hourly wage
  • Study grants ($1,000 for 3 months, $2,000 for 6 months)
  • Travel or accommodation stipends ($300 for 3 months, $600 for 6 months)
  • Access to learning platforms and cultural mentorship
  • Workshops with Māori and Pacific leaders
  • Whānau involvement in key program milestones
  • Post-internship support for career growth

Te Aranuku (Focused Journey)

Te Ararangi (Full Circle Journey)

  • Starts February and October 2025
  • 3-month internship
  • 20–30 hours per week (flexible around study)
  • Ideal for a foundational experience for further studies or leading towards a specialist area of the hotel.
  • Start date: October 2025
  • 6-month rotational internship across departments
  • 20–30 hours per week (flexible around study)
  • Perfect for those seeking management pathways
  • Rotations include: Rooms Division: Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance and Culinary: Food & Beverage, Kitchen and more, with the option of leadership shadowing.
