Sudima Auckland City has unveiled a tactile, touch-accessible model of Ether, the landmark 11-metre sculpture by Auckland artist Judy Darragh ONZM — making the artwork accessible to guests who are blind or have low vision.
The model, which sits beneath the original sculpture in the hotel’s lobby, coincides with Sudima’s partnership with the Aotearoa Art Fair 2026. It is supported by braille interpretation and a video of artist Judy Darragh discussing the work.
Hear from Judy Darragh as she shares the story behind Ether — the bold, 11-metre fluorescent cloud sculpture that hangs in the atrium of Sudima Auckland City. The inclusion of a tactile model of Ether ensures everyone can experience the artwork through touch, braille and storytelling, including those who are blind or have low vision. When we design with accessibility in mind, it creates a better experience for everyone.
